When the JAERI-RIKEN SPring-8 Project Team wa s fo rm ed in Oc to be r 19 88 , th e to ta l nu mb er of the staff was 66 and the number increased to 220 by April 1, 1995. At that time, the total number of JASRI staff was only 36. A certain number of the s t a f f s t a r t e d t o b e t r a n s f e r r e d f r o m t h e t e a m t o J A S R I i n p r e p a r a t i o n f o r o p e r a t i o n a n d a d m i n i s t r a t i o n o f t h e S P r i n g - 8 F a c i l i t y . W h e n t h e t e a m w a s d i s s o l v e d in 1997, most of the staff had been transferred to JASRI. By the end of July 2000, the total number of fu ll -t im e st af f at JA SR I am ou nt ed to 33 8.
