The number of papers published based on the research results obtained at SPring-8 has increased steadily e v ery year . As the number of publications increased, the number of e xcellent papers also increased. Among the e xcellent results, 42 results are selected and cate gorized into se v en research disciplines with one e xception to be reported in this issue: the e xception is about nuclear physics, which w as obtained using -rays generated by in v erse Compton scattering.
